The ASUS IoT Tinker Edge R is an AI-capable Pico-ITX SBC with Rockchip RK3399Pro hexa-core SoC, integrated Rockchip NPU, 4 GB system memory + 2 GB NPU RAM, 16 GB eMMC, HDMI 4K, MIPI-DSI/CSI and Mini-PCIe for 4G/LTE.
The ASUS IoT Tinker Edge R is based on the Rockchip RK3399Pro with two ARM Cortex-A72 (1.8 GHz) and four ARM Cortex-A53 (1.4 GHz) cores as well as a dedicated Rockchip NPU for machine learning inference. It offers 4 GB LPDDR4 (system) + 2 GB LPDDR3 (NPU) onboard memory and 16 GB eMMC on a compact 100 × 72 mm (Pico-ITX format).
Displays are driven via HDMI (up to 4096 × 2160 @ 60 Hz), USB-C with DisplayPort 1.2 and MIPI-DSI (4-lane, 22-pin, 6 Gbps). Two MIPI-CSI-2 inputs (4-lane, 22-pin) enable stereo camera setups. Three USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, one USB-C OTG port, Gigabit LAN (Realtek RTL8211F) and Wi-Fi 802.11 ac + BT 5.0 (M.2 E-Key) provide complete connectivity.
A Mini-PCIe slot (full-length) with Nano-SIM socket enables 4G/LTE integration. The 40-pin GPIO header provides GPIO, SPI, I²C, UART, PWM, PCM/I²S and S/PDIF. The Tinker Edge R supports OmniEdge middleware with watchdog timer, GPIO API, automatic connection recovery and IoT protocols (MQTT, Modbus, REST).
The Tinker Edge R is powered with 12–19 V DC (barrel jack or 4-pin header), supports Linux Debian 10 and Android (AOSP) 9 and is designed for 0 to 60 °C.
